AN ADDICTING VIDEO GAME TO DEPRIVE CHILDREN OF THEIR SLEEP.
-SPOILER FREE-
That's right, it's Disgaea!! Disgaea is an Srpg created by Nippon Ichi for the Playstashun2. It features l337 sauce as well as awesumgravy.

I always say that 2d is better than 3d, and this game apparently agrees with me! All the characters and object are sprites, (and very well done ones at that!) The cutscenes are all well constructed, and visual effects for some of those attacks are quite amazing, (Gordon Blitz, anyone?) Of course, this is a ps2 we're talking about, so a lot of the polygons aren't very sharp.
The area which Disgaea shines over Phantom Brave is the large character portraits that are in most every cutscene.

I <3 DISGAEA AUDIO!! Voice acting is top notch, some of the best I've ever heard. Sounds can get a little repetetive sometimes, but that hardly detracts from anything. The muzik absolutely SOARS over any other game I can think of. Must muzik is completely amazing, but the lyrical compositions are what puts this over the top. A few select songs like Etna Boogie and Under The Red Moon are the most amazing songs I've heard in a game for a long time. I'm sure Eli might kill me if I don't talk about Invasion from Within, so I'll just say that it's ok.
Story:9
I <3 DISGAEA STORY!! Most of the story is humor, (good humor this time,) but there is also a good deal of tragedy. It's a very sad story at heart, but most of the sadness is covered up by the humor. Character-wise, Disgaea shines. I grew to love all of the characters, (well, most....), even the ones that I thought I would hate. For example, there are two blondes in the game, (count em', two!) but I ended up liking both of them. Flonne captured me the second she said her ninja line, and Jennifer pierced my heart with her surprisingly deep emotions. Other characters are awe-inspiring as well, such as Laharl, the second most badass freakin' overlord in the whole damn cosmos, and Captain Gordon, Defender of Earth. I love them all so much. ^___^ If I had to complain about anyone, it would be two people. First is Etna. Etna is a good character, don't get me wrong, but she is just so shallow. The other is Aramis, he(she?) is WAY too annoying for how unimportant he(she?) is to the overall plotline. Other than those two, however, the story is near perfect.
Gameplay:10
N1 has acheived another score of ten in my gameplay section! Yay! Once again, this shtuff is drugz. I can play for hours and hours and hours and not get bored. It plays very similiar to Phantom Brave, except better. This game uses a normal grid system, which adds strategy. The customization is great. One issue is that not all of the classes or weapon types are even remotely evened out, so you have to start over again and create a new character if you chose a bad class or weapon type. Another complaint is that in general the game is too easy. There are certain parts that are hard, yes, but they are outweighed by the easy parts of the game. I would have prefered it more evened out, like Phantom Brave. All in all however, Disgaea's difficulty isn't too far below Phantom Brave's, the difference is that Disgaea's difficulty is all at the end of the game, whilst PB's is spread out. I do, however, understand that some people out there are softer core than I am, so I shall forgive N1 for make it a bit on the easy side.
Overall:9
This game is amazing. Once again, I will remind you that this game is HARDCORE! All you nubz out there will easily get lost in the menu screens. However, with time, effort, and determination, you will find quite the treasure within this title.
