Gradius 3, one of the hardest games I've ever played. Basically, you fly a space ship that constanly moves forward and shoot enemies to collect power-ups.
Gameplay: 9/10
Their is nothing wrong gameplay wise. You play as a spaceship called Vic Viper You can move up, down, forward, or backwards. All of the weapons are balanced. the only glaring flaws is arcade mode. This mode is so incredably hard tha about 1 minute into the game, there are hundreds of bullets flying across the screen at high speeds. Besides Arcade mode, nothing is bad in Gradius 3.
Story: 3/10
That's right, 3. Gradius 3 has no story unless you read the instruction manual. The story says somethig about saving the people of planet Gradius from Bacterion a.k.a. the last boss. Nothing else is given except a thank you for playing after beating the game.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are good for a SNES game. Vic Viper looks like your generic space fighter. The bosses, however, are amazingly drawn and animated. You'll be fighting everything from a giant earwig to a giant man-eating plant. All the bosses are great. The normal enemies are kinda lame though.
Sound: 10/10
This is where Gradius 3 really excels. All of the music fits the levels perfectly. Theris everything from the bizzarely fast-paced music from Lightning run to the slow, brooding style in the bubble pit. Wherver it is, the music is mostly always a good choice.
Multiplayer: 7/10
Gradius 3's multipayer is for the competetive. It is basically a race to see who can get farther before a game over. The other player takes his/her turn after first player has taken his/her turn. Overall, multiplayer is okay.
So there you have it. Gradius 3 is an awesome game for those wh want a challenge. Each mode, even easy is difficult. The graphics are good for SNES. The gameplay is fluid and good. Multiplayer is ther, but I never consider it. The sound is amazing.
Overall: 8/10
