Teh first review EVAH will be for Alien Soldier!! Yay!
Alien soldier is a run/gun shmup released almost a decade and a half ago. It was made by Treusure, (a.k.a. Thor,) for the Sega Master System.
Visuals:9
Okay, so I'm a big pushover for those 16-bit graphics, but hey, why not? They're awesome. Everything looks quite smooth and transitions well, and the explosions aplenty will NOT leave you hoping for anything more. All the bosses are huge and intimidating, and the backrounds are varied and well made.
Audio:7
The music fits it's role perfectly; It's fast paced metal/rock/
proto-tech junkie style. It's not that great, but it's fits it's niche.
The sounds is... meh. Treasure games were never known for their sound.
Story:7
If treasure isn't known for their sound, then they are completely unheard of for their story. The story they came up with for this particular game is slightly more intricate than most, but still nothing amazing. Basically: 'Ur a terrorist eagle human thing, go shoot stuff!' Okay, so it's a little more complicated than that, but who cares?
Gameplay:10
SHINE!!!! BOOM! BAM! KUWOOSH! NIN NIN!! OH YEAH BABY, THAT FEELS GOOOD! This. is. teh. bomb. THIS is what Treasure is known for. Alien Soldier is pretty much legendary for hardcore shmup fans, and it's not hard to imagine why. With awesome abilities like Phoenix Force, Teleport, Counter Force, Ceiling Run, and 6 different weapons, it's hard to not love this game. The customization it wonderful, as you can choose which weapons to use and upgrade, as well as which ones to save ammo for. I could type for hours and hours, but I actually have things to do today, so I'll leave you with this: SOME OF THE BEST GAMEPLAY EVAH IS RIGHT HERE IN THIS GAME.
Conclusion:8
This game is teh winzorz. Deal with it. The only reason you WOULDN'T want this game, is if ur a total panzy and can't handle the extremely high difficulty level. Yup.
EDIT:In light of the fact that there a lot of games better than Alien Soldier, I decided to make my system more strict, and therefor give it an 8/10 instead of 9/10.
