We will never forget the volcano level in the AWDS.
With the hordes of enemy rockets, Md Tanks, and bombers on the bottom map, and the assfull of helicopters on the top one. To top the level off they threw in a hella tough CO and the most annoying volcano to ever be seen by human eyes. I was killed off by the ensueing eruption far too many times to count. I thought it was impossible for any map to be much harder.
But there's always a first, right?
I HAVE FURY!
Here comes AWDoR, with no sense of mercy or forgiveness whatsoever. They take one glance at the volcanoe level and laugh. This game has nearly half a dozen maps nearly as difficult as the volcanoe level, but one clearly takes the cake. I will refer to this level as the "New Volcano Level".
Most of the map consists of ocean, with sparse land on the south, east and north edges. There are also two small islands in the middle. You start in the southeast corner whilst your opponent starts in the northeast. Here is where your first problem arises: fog of war. That's right, your units can't see more than a few spaces in front of them. Great. Next problem? Forests. Placed in perfect positions for rockets to hit your expensive mega tanks over and over again.
I HAVE FURY!
Next problem? Battleships. LOTS OF BATTLESHIPS. Your opponent starts the battle with 6 (SIX!!!!!) battleships, all hidden in the fog, waiting to long-range you into submission. Throw a couple subs and cruisers into the equation, and your opponent starts out with a highly formidable offense. If that's not already engough, your opponent CO's stat multipliers adds a 15% advantage to naval units. F'n ouch. The problem isn't just with his starting army, though. He has 2, (TWO!!!!) ports to make more battleships and subs to hassle you with.
I HAVE FURY!
That's right, you guessed it, his income is also about 400% of yours in the beginning of the map. That means if you are not EXTREMELY careful he'll mop the floor with you. To avoid this, you must take over the two islands extremely quickly, (within the first five turns.)
Not fun enough for you yet? Well, for all those sadomachinists out there Nintendo added in one more little detail. You have only 40 days to complete the mission. Only 40 fucking days.
